The two basic pieces in this pattern can be worn independently or as a set. Make several to mix and match. The armhole for a sleeveless style can be finished with a bias binding, facing or lining, or an option is included for a flange-style, capped sleeve. The sleeves can be applied to the wrap or slip dress/top. The pattern includes dress- or top-length options. The slip dress/top bodice was drafted with two neckline options, a V-neck concealed by design under the wrapped bodice and a round neck, designed so that the coordinate or contrast slip fabric peeks from under the wrapped bodice.

This cape and dress ensemble was featured in the March/April 2008, Issue #117 of Sew Beautiful magazine. The collar pattern provides two options; one with lace edging and one without. Instead of smocking, the insert pieces may also be gathered, pintucked or pleated to fit the dress or cape openings. The sample shown on the cover is embellished with hand embroidery. For your convenience, the template for the rose clusters on the dress collar is provided in the instructions along with stitch diagrams for all stitches.
