Delightful Double Skirt
Doll Dress Notes

from Issue #81 by Sue Pennington

SLEEVES
Embroider solid fabric.
Cut two strips of fabric 1-1/2 inches by 6 inches, centering embroidery in each strip.
Stitch piping to both long edges of each strip, using 1/4-inch seam allowance.
Stitch blocks of print fabric to both sides of piped strips, to form blocks large enough for sleeve pattern. Finish seams.
Cut out sleeves.

CUFF
Cut 4 strips of fabric, each 1 inch by 5-3/4 inches for cuffs.
Stitch piping to both long edges of two strips, using a 1/4-inch seam.
Gather lower edges of sleeves to fit piped strips, and stitch rights sides together along piping stitching line.
Gather lace edging about two-to-one and stitch to the other piped edge of the cuff, just catching the heading, and with the gathered lace toward the cuff and the heading toward the seam allowance.
Place the plain fabric strips right sides together over the sleeve cuffs, and stitch along the previous stitching on the lower edge of the cuff, catching the heading of the lace in the stitching.
Press the cuff lining toward the cuff, and press under 1/4-inch edge along the raw edge of the cuff lining. Secure by stitching in the ditch from the right side, or by stitching by hand.

SKIRT EXTENSIONS
Cut ties 1-1/2-inches by 13 inches.
Gather side skirt extensions to measure 3 inches and attach ties.

COLLAR
Embroider solid fabric before cutting out collar.
Stitch piping and gather edging around collar as for sleeve cuffs.

SKIRT
Embroider solid-color skirt front, placing embroidery in center front, and lower edge of embroidery 3-1/2 inches above lower raw edge of skirt (a two-inch hem is allowed.)
